ASN Counts Down for Ultimate Belgian Tasting III
April 10, 2008,

at Heartland Brewery, Empire State Building

The Best Beer Event in NYC!

Explore a beer brewed in the holy confines of a Trappist monastery; or coax the cork from a bottle of beer fermented  with wild, airborne yeast, then blended in a barrel with cherries; how about a beer brewed in Southampton with flower petals?

This is the world of Belgian beer and Belgian-style beers that will be showcased at Ale Street News’ third annual Ultimate Belgian Tasting. This is the one!  This is thee event!  The cream of the crop of Belgian imports as well as select examples from America’s cutting-edge brewers will be available for tasting at Heartland Brewery’s Empire State location which has been booked exclusively for the night of Thurs., April 10.

Couple this with an array of delectable delights from area chefs, a smorgasbord of cheese and chocolates, and Belgian treats like waffles and ice cream, and you have a night not to be missed.  This is a wonderful evening .  Bring your special someone to this event, best friends, bring the people you work with, bring your clients, best customers, bring yourself but don't miss this this event!

Last year’s sold out event, and subsequent kudos, proved consumers are welcoming the UBT’s upscale format and are willing to go the extra mile for such a quality event. “Our suggested jacket and tie dress code for men, and asking women to dress ‘as elegantly as you feel’ was a tremendous hit,” Jack Babin, ASN Co-Publisher said. “It will be something to remember. We hope to see you there.”

As in past years a donation from the event will be made to the Tomorrows Children’s Fund.

Belgian beers have attracted a huge following in the US, so much so that artisanal Belgian brewers are hard-pressed to keep up with demand despite the efforts of America’s entrepreneurial importers. Meanwhile America’s current crop of envelope-pushing brewers have taken to Belgian styles with a vengeance, turning out tripels, dubbels, golden ales, saisons (farmhouse ales), styles brewed by Trappist monks, even barrel-aged beauties fermented with wild yeast.

The evening will not be complete without YOU!

My wife just called me to say that our tickets came today!!! This will be our
third UBT and, once again, we're really looking forward to it. The only thing we
regret is that Saint Michael (Jackson, that is) will only be attending in spirit
this year.
